What problem or challenge were you facing before using ATLI Building Company?

We’d bought an old weatherboard Californian bungalow that had been lovingly maintained and extended by its previous owners. We wanted to partially separate two large open-plan spaces and turn a workshop into a studio, update paint, kitchen cabinets insulation and some flooring, and where possible work with the existing structure. We knew what we needed, and had chosen many of the design elements, but we didn’t know how much work was involved and how to co-ordinate the various trades – we needed a professional builder who could take on the whole project.

What made you choose ATLI Building Company?

Alex was keen and responsive: enthusiastic about the job and quick to quote. He knew who to turn to for realistic advice on specific options (e.g. restoring an old cork floor). Most of all, he showed that he was a cheerful and clear communicator, and we felt he would be a good fit with the house and with us.

How was your experience working with ATLI Building Company?

We had a very positive experience. The end result speaks for itself, but along the way we had a minimum of stress and fuss, and issues big and small were resolved speedily. We always had the sense that Alex was invested in getting the best possible result in every aspect of the renovation.

What stood out the most about the process/service?

Alex was patient and upbeat; he kept works moving at a good pace throughout and encouraged us to talk directly with subcontractors to make the choices we were happiest with. He was genuinely excited about different elements of the job as they came together.

What were the biggest benefits you achieved?

We hoped to do as much as possible to get our new house ready for the years ahead before moving in. Rather than redoing sections bit by bit, we were able to see the whole place transformed in a cohesive way, to a uniformly high standard – some areas freshened up, others significantly changed.

How has this helped you in your life?

We couldn’t have this work done, at least not to the standard that’s been achieved, without a quality company like ATLI. We’re hugely excited to be able to move in to a finished house with our kids – and, for some time, to only have to focus on small (and for us more enjoyable) design upgrades like shelving.

Would you recommend ATLI Building Company to others?

We would absolutely recommend ATLI to anyone needing a quality builder. Alex’s communication style and attention to clients’ needs is fantastic, especially – in our case – as inexperienced renovators. ATLI happily takes on small building jobs, whereas other builders we spoke with initially seemed more interested in larger-scale work. We’d have no hesitation in working with Alex again!
